Se le vacanze estive sono forse il momento più atteso dell’anno per chi ha passato un anno intero in ufficio, di sicuro lo sono meno per i nostri amici a quattro zampe che ogni estate sono abbandonati lungo le strade. Dal Regno Unito arriva una brillante idea che se “trasferita” in Italia potrebbe risultare utile contro l’abbandono degli animali. BorrowMyDoggy (www.borrowmydoggy.com) è il sito dove in Inghilterra è possibile dare in prestito il proprio cane sia per brevi passeggiate sia durante le vacanze. Ispirato alla filosofia del “Find your perfect match today”, il sito dà l’opportunità di mettere in contatto i proprietari di cani con chi è disposto a prendersi cura degli amici a quattro zampe.
Come funziona? Il primo step consiste nel creare i profili ad hoc: se sei il proprietario (owner) dovrai includere nel profilo anche naturalmente il tuo cane e raccontare la sua personalità e temperamento, aggiungendo una descrizione dettagliata delle sue attività preferite. D’obbligo spiegare le possibili esigenze del tuo cane e precedenti esperienze con altri cani e bambini.Se invece decidi di registrarti come borrower, ovvero come colui che decide di prendere in prestito il cane, è importante specificare se hai già avuto precedenti esperienze e in caso di risposta affermativa, specificare il tipo di razza. Per te borrower è molto importante spiegare se ci sono particolari motivi per cui desideri prenderti cura del cane (ad esempio hai dei bambini piccoli e pensi che l’interazione con gli amici a quattro zampe possa avere un impatto positivo sull’infanzia).
Verifica dati e abbonamento: solo dopo l’avvenuta verifica dei dati inseriti nei rispettivi profili, sarà possibile pagare la quota associativa. Per gli owners, il costo annuo è di 44.99 sterline; mentre per i borrowers il prezzo è di 9.99 sterline all’anno.
Calendario appuntamenti: dopo il pagamento della quota, sia gli owners sia i borrowers potranno “trovarsi a vicenda”, incontrarsi, confrontarsi, piacersi. Anche il cane dovrà manifestare naturalmente la propria opinione nei confronti del potenziale borrower.
Grazie a questo sito la semplice idea di dare in prestito il proprio cane è diventata molto più diffusa e maggiormente condivisa in Inghilterra, aumentando la popolarità – e dunque anche la credibilità - degli amanti degli animali.
Secondo l’Aidaa, associazione italiana difesa animali e ambiente, ben 361 animali di casa sono stati abbandonati in occasione del primo lungo ponte estivo dal 30 maggio al 2 giugno. Proprio il 2 giugno 2015 è andata in onda la campagna del Tg2 contro la piaga dell’abbandono degli animali durante i mesi più caldi. Un video di due minuti ritrae i giornalisti del Tg2 con i loro cani e gatti e lancia il perentorio messaggio “gli amici non si abbandonano mai, chi è umano non lo fa”.
Secondo la Lega Anti vivisezione, in estate si registrano le punte massime di animali abbandonati dal momento che diventa un problema partire con il proprio amico quattrozampe. Dalle statistiche rese note dalla LAV, una media di circa 80.000 gatti e 50.000 cani viene abbandonata in Italia.
